Writing standards across the curriculum.

At Surrey Christian School, we want parents and students to be clear on our expectations for written material.  The following standards have been adopted across all grades and subject areas.  We have also taken care to build our expectations as students advance to senior grades.

Daily assignments.

All assignments should be written on clean, untorn sheets of paper, with a proper heading.  Students should clarify with their teacher whether an assignment should be typed or hand-written.  Teachers will sometimes make use of digital dropboxes.

Research.

Grade 8-10:  students will produce all research papers using the MLA citation format.

Grades 11-12: citation formats will vary according to discipline.  For English and Bible, MLA; for Socials, Chicago; and for Science, APA.
